Do you have to change the thermostat when you replace the water pump? What are the torque specs on pulling back to water pump?

Hello,
I hope that you have a 1.4L engine because as I was doing research on your vehicle I came across this Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) for a recall on your vehicle's water pump. You probably want to call your local dealership and inquire about having it replaced free of charge, I have included the TSB in the diagrams down below.

I bought an OEM metal, pre-coated gasket. Is there a wait time before I can refill the coolant? And is any other sealant necessary?

I have replace my valve cover. I have replaced the fan under the hood had both of my temperature sensors changed and thermostat and housing, yet the car is constantly overheating. Could it be due to a bad water pump?

Hello,
It can be a failed water pump, a head gasket issue. Are you losing any coolant from the radiator? Here's a quick test, in the morning when the car is cold, take the radiator cap off and start the car, this is safe as long as you do it when the car is cold. Never remove a radiator cap while the engine is hot. But as I was saying if you see bubbles coming from the radiator, that's a sign of a failed head gasket. Also if it's constantly overheating, you will cause a head gasket failure or worse. So do some checks before driving much more. If the water pump has failed some of the coolant hoses will be colder than others due to no coolant being circulated. Especially around the radiator, upper and lower hoses will be different temperatures.
