Water bubbling and boiling from expansion tank

As soon as the thermostat open's, not long after that a couples of minutes I guess the water starts bubbling then as the car get warmer it starts boiling and bubbling to where it is coming out the top of tank and if you put the cap on it pop's and makes all kind of sounds. Does anyone have a theory tested for combustion gases and there was't any so.Thankls
