This car is the X type SE, D. Can anyone help diagnose this issue? The car had been driving perfectly but then suddenly the engine malfunction, Brake, ABS, charger and glow plugs warning lights come on. The air conditioner switches off and a message is displayed saying cruise control not available. The car then goes in to limp home mode. None of the dials work (speedometer or rpm) they just sit at zero. The display for the miles on the car also turns off.

if you run the car with ignition on without putting it into gear and trying to move it this does not happen. Within a few seconds of trying to move the car all of the above occurs. The passenger airbag warning light also comes on.

the car has been regularity serviced every year.

any idea what might be causing this?I think it might be an electrical fault?

thanks!

You would need a dealer level scan tool to look at the system. Jaguar makes a very complicated vehicle and repairing them can be complicated as well. The dealer level tool would let you look at the sensors and controls as well as read the codes that are being set.
As for the cause, it could be as simple as a loose connection that moves when the engine is shifted into gear, or a bad ground/power cable. Reading the codes and the freeze frame data would be the first step.
