This entire thing started when our AC went out about two weeks ago. The fan and blower motor worked fine but all of a sudden no cold air. Took to mechanic who said AC compressor was bad. Had him replace it and AC was back to blowing cool air. Drove car for about two hundred miles then heard a hissing sound from dash, then came home and car would not start next day. It would crank fine but just would not cut over. Took back to same mechanic who said starter was bad. Replaced started car starts now but nasty sounding crank, lights flicker a bit too when cranked but also now the indicator, hazard, internal lights do not work and there is a weird dial circle on the radio display screen. Please help!

Hello,

This sounds like they got a bad starter or it is not installed correctly. Can you make a short video of the noise and upload it here so I can be sure of the issue?

Cheers, Ken

When you crank it, it stutters, clicks then cuts over, definitely not as smooth as before. Though could this be related to a bad starter or starter installation? I have got some ground wires near the drivers side door that may have gotten wet when it rained recently because the weather stripping from the windshield is no good and my drivers side carpet was wet. May or may not be but just saying.

Someone told me that one of the relays could have gotten shorted out and that I should replace it or unplug the ETACS module and re-plug it back in. But not sure I should do that.

Great job on the video. The starter motor is defective could be a cheap rebuild. I would use a OEM unit. Here is one from Amazon for 126.00

This guide will show you how.

The door lock and interior light problem seems like a fuse #10 15 amp can you check it?

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what you find. We are interested to see what it is.

Ken, I had the starter replaced and that was a good idea thank you! Though I still have a problem with no turn signal or hazzard lights working. Do you know which relay controls them. Mechanic said all fuses were working fine but from your images I wasnt sure which exact fuses and relay we should check or try to replace.

Ken, we were able to resolve the problem. It was in fact the ETACS module. I got another used module, popped it in and it worked. ETACS module controls interior lights, power locks, warning and hazard lights. Just replace it, its plug and play, no programming needed unless to re-program your keyless entry.
