Engine Mechanical problem
2006 Volvo XC90 All Wheel Drive Automatic 48000 miles

I have what appears to be a vacume line on the center top of the engine that has been replaced with just a piece of black tubing. It is abt 1/2 in diameter. Any idea what that is and what it connects to on the other end? Its being held in place with a cheesy silver hose clamp, any sense in replacing it with an OEM part?

That hose is the pcv hose and it goes from the top of the cam cover down to the oil trap box. You will need to remove the intake manifold to replace the hose and yes you should replace it with the dealer hose. What happens if you use a plain rubber hose is that the pcv vapors will eat through that rubber hose because oil and rubber do not really get along.
