At times, mostly when it is dryer out, as opposed to misty or foggy, a whistling nosise is coming from the engine compartment.
What I have listened to seems to be located at the front of the engine along the intake manifold.
When I tromped the gas for a second and release it the nosie will stop for a very short time, the engine will go to 850 rpms but climb back up to 1300.
A mechanic I took it to pulled out the oil dipstick just a little and the noise stops.
He is puzzled on this one. But thinks it may have something to do with what I used to call a Positive Crankcase Ventilation system. I remeber pulling out a PCV valve and it making a whistling noise.
He and I also suspect it is a vacuum problem.
Any ideas?
