had major tune up done at 82000 miles, car started making whining noise so turned it off an let it cool down, while waiting on brother to come hear the noise. while waiting i checked the oil which was low so i added oil back to the line, the car still had the whining noise which sound like its coming from behind the motor or from the top under the cover.

Remove the oil dipstick. If you hear a suction noise and the whine goes away then the oil trap box has an internal vacuum leak. You shoud have a 10year/150k mile emissons warranty on the box but you need to call Volvo to verify. Good luck and keep me posted.
