1989 Volvo 240 gas

My 1989 volvo burnsgas like a v8 and worse I put 20 dollars in and I got like 8 miles a gallon and I replaced the air folw sensor and it does not want to switch gears 3- 4 when it warms up do you know what that is.

I had exaclty the same problem, until just today! It was the "Overdrive Relay." It appears to be a common problem. After looking for the part everywhere with no luck, I found some online for $80 + Tax and S/H. (And a lot of risk) I just stopped by the dealer and picked one up for $120.00 total, installed it myself (VERY easy) and I am back to normal.
