Before I replaced the battery my voltage reading was a constant 14.5 volts. After the battery replacement it starts at 14.5 volts and after a period of driving it drops to about 11 or 12 volts. After about thirty minutes it jumps back p to 14.5 volts again and repeats this cycle. Why does this happen? Is it normal for this car?

It is not normal. It sounds like the charging control module needs to be reset by a dealer or a shop with a good scan tool. The module watches the battery charging state and controls the generator based on the voltage and current used in the vehicle. The battery change may have made the module reset and stop charging properly.
