I need to replace a tail light on my 74 super beetle, but after removing the tail light lens, the bolts holding the tail light on, are in holes that have very thin area for a wrench or socket, what type wrench or socket can I use to remove the tail light. Also, is the tail light a plug in or will I have to strip and wire the new one in? Thanks

These are very small nuts on the screws that hold
the unit in place, like around 7mm I think.
Jack the car up and remove the rear wheel, this will give you room to get in there with a little socket.
Also, get the idiot book for air cooled vw by john muir.
The wires are plug ins.
Also check out

the community there is a veritable wealth of info
specific to the air cooled super beetle.
