Hello. Recently (within the last 1000 miles) I have noticed that my car makes a "growling" noise when I am accelerating in lower gears. I'm not sure what is causing that. I also noticed that it seems that a belt is making a squeaking noise which just started two days ago. I recently had the water pump and timing belt changed just as an fyi.

What is causing (or possibly) causing the growling noise when I'm accelerating?

Have the CV joints inspected, particulary the rubber protective boots.
If there are any tears/rips/grease near the boots, the CV joints could very well make a growling noise and the axle would have to be replaced.

Have the waterpump and timing belt reinspected by shop that did it, especially tension on timing belt and any damage to belt (there should be none since it is new). If serpentene belt is squeaking it is probably contaminated with coolant/grease, have it replaced and pulleys cleaned.

If there was no growling BEFORE repair, then it is logical to assume that the repair was done incorrectly or was incomplete.

Shop around in your area for a shop (ASE certified) that deals only in VW's.
