2000 Volkswagen Jetta Blinking BRAKE light indicator on das

The dashboard display light reading BRAKE comes on and blinks while I am driving. Also, at intervals a beep, beep, beep, beep is heard. The lights and blinking stop, everything appears normal and then the sequence begins all over again.

Any ideas?

Count the blinks, any pauses count as a new or second digit, it's probably related to ABS sytem.
Or fluid is low, or pads are worn out, it depends which light is on! Have a look in your owners manual, or reply to me.
