1992 Volkswagen Golf 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

When I turn my window wipers on, theres a tapping noise and the wipers dont move unless I give them help to move. I have to move the wiper up about 5cms before it moves by itself. What do you think is causing this problem? And how do I fix it?

Hi there,

This sounds as if the wiper motor or the regulator pivots are faulty, just make sure that the wiper arm is tight on the pivot(check the nut at the bottom of the wiper arm, if this is ok, the wiper motor may be the issue and will have to be removed & inspected.
