1995 Volkswagen Cabriolet Manual

We just purchased this convertable VW and Love it except for one thing. It has no glove compartment. Can one be installed and how difficult would it be?

Hello and thanks for donating!

You can have an aftermarket glove compartment installed in the 1995 Cabriolet, but it is very dangerous to do so. Installing an aftermarket glove compartment could cause serious injury in case of an airbag deployment. The Jetta's dash will fit in the Cabriolet though, so you could have the entire dash swapped out which would then come with a glove compartment. Not certain what the labor cost would be for this but I am certain it would be pretty expensive at a shop. Doing it yourself could be a challenge, but if you have a second ride to use then you could save a lot of money by doing it yourself.

If we found a glove compartment out of another VW same make and model would it be easier to install?

Sure would be a lot easier if you can find one. I've never seen a '95 cabri with a stock glove compartment though. Most that have one are aftermarket put in at interior shops or as I said before just entire dash swaps.
