I have replaced all three speed sensors and the speedometer and ABS still don't work. The fuses are brand new. Any suggestions?

Hi,

I dealt with one of these about two months ago. The ABS light was on, and the speedometer was not working.

Here is what I need you to have done to confirm a few things for me: I had to scan the can-bus to get a code. The code I got was a P0500 which indicates a communication issue with the cab module/ABS module. If the module isn't communicating, neither will work. The fix was the replacement of the module.

You replaced the rear wheel anti-lock sensor at the top of the differential, correct?

Regardless, I mentioned the can-bus. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different computers communicate with each other. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.

Here is a link showing how it's done:

The scanner used is one that can retrieve codes from any module. Since the code I mentioned is a "P" code, you may get it with a traditional scanner. If you don't have one, often the parts stores will scan it for you.

Have this done and let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

I replaced the sensor on the rear center differential and the input and output sensors on the transmission. The code I got was P0500, the same. After all the sensors were changed, the ABS and brake lights are still on, and the speedometer isn’t working.

Hi,

Okay, that is what I got. Do you have a scan tool that can communicate and actuate the modules on the vehicle? We need to check the ABS module to see if it is responding. The breakdown is the vehicle speed signal is not present.

Take a look through the diagnostics below and let me know if you are comfortable performing them.

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Okay, I totally understand. What I would suggest is to have the ABS module tested to see if it is communicating with the other modules.

Let me know.
