Hello, my name is Shazette and I'm having similar problems with the vehicle listed above. The check engine light is on and stays on. My mom put like $2,000.00 in on repairs and it still runs badly, and the check engine light is still on. When you drive it for about 10 minutes it will shut down but immediately start right up, I've noticed it happens more with low fuel and sometimes it does okay but I was on a small overpass with slight incline 2 Lanes no shoulder and she stalled about 5 time's and when I say small iean probably a.25. Mile I had to put the transmission I'm neutral and restart it just to get up the overpass. Usually when it stalls I pull over, shut down the ignition and restart and it's usually good for another little run. Can you tell me your thoughts? I've been thinking fuel related.

Hi,

If the check engine light is on and you've had it to shops, they should have indicated the trouble codes that were retrieved. Has anyone provided that? If not, you can stop at most parts stores and have them scan the computer for codes. That would be very helpful.

Now, what you described sounds like it could be a couple of different issues. First, if it happens more with low fuel or on an incline, it could be a partially plugged sock/filter in the fuel tank. That would restrict fuel flow. You could check the fuel pressure to determine if it is low. Here is a link that explains how it's done.

On the other hand, this could also be a faulty crankshaft position sensor. When they start to fail, oftentimes they are adversely affected by heat and stop working when they get hot. Normally, they require a short cool-down time to begin working again. However, they can also do what you described.

Take a look through this link and let me know if the symptoms discussed mirror what you experience:

Since there are different things that can cause what you described, I do recommend having the computer scanned for codes. They could be listed on a receipt from when the vehicle was worked on at a shop. Try your best to get them and let me know what they are.

Take care,

Joe

Hey Joe, thank you so much, I will definitely check the crankshaft sensor and the sock filter and check fuel pressure. It does seem like its vapor locking or something with throttle because when the van starts to stuttering and pushing the gas pedal doesn't prevent it from turning off it's like vapor locking or seems like TPS sensor. I'm it exactly sure what the shop replaced because my mom was who had taken the van for repairs and $2,000.00 later and the van runs worse than before. I will see if I can get the work orders and receipts to see what was "replaced". Honestly, just when I've looked under the hood to check fluids, I can't see anything that stands out like new parts at all. Thank you, Joe, I appreciate your help and I'll follow the links you sent and go from there. You have an amazing day.
Thank you,
Shazette
