Van jerks when driven. Turn it off, let it rest for a few minutes, then it can be driven for a day or two before the jerking starks again. It has a rebuilt transmission, new fuel pump, spark plugs, new gas tank. Between two mechanics this work was done. The transmission specialist said to bring it back when the jerking starts so he can check it. It's hard to get it back to him at that time.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.

The problem can be a multitude things. If the check engine light comes on when this is happening, before turning the engine off, you should have it scanned. Now, I realize most people don't have a scanner to use, however, most nationally recognized parts stores will scan it for free. If there is one you know of, that it there when this happens.

If you have a scanner or know someone that would lend you one, here is a quick video that shows how one is used:

If the light is on all the time, take it and have this done and let me know what codes are present. This could be transmission related or engine related. The codes which will show up should identify which area is of concern.

If there is no light, then you need to have it tested by the transmission mechanic. Without a light on, it will become a guessing game.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe
