Hello,

I'm going to remove the valve covers on my vehicle listed above S55. It has a 428cj, I'm not sure what the torque would be to put them back on and the specs, what pattern to start tightening the bolts.
Also, it does not leak but should I replace the gaskets when I re install the covers?

Thank you for all your help.

Hi,

Beautiful car!

Yes, if you remove the cover, the gasket should be replaced.

A valve cover specification of 5-7 foot-pounds is recommended. It is important not to over-tighten the valve covers as this can lead to distortion of the cover, gasket failure, and potential oil leaks. When tightening the valve covers, it is also important to tighten them evenly and in a crisscross pattern to ensure even pressure and prevent warping of the covers.

Let me know if this helps.

Take care,

Joe
