I have a 350 turbo engine, GM 11" manual disc brakes in front, Ford 9"with 15/16 wheel cylinders in rear. What master will work? I have a 1 1/8 power brake master cylinder on car now and have zero brake pressure and zero pressure in system. I was told never use a master cylinder bigger than a 1" bore for manual disc. Is that true? The car had a "shallow bore piston from the factory with a 7/8 bore. I could bleed and get pressure but still had no brakes, pedal always went to floor. I am looking at ACdelco master cylinder number 18m1988 and/or Raybestos master cylinder MC 36233. Can either of these be used? Is there such a thing as "manual disc brakes" ever used on a GM car? When and what car? What part number and maker of master cylinder? Thanks.

Yes, anytime you are mixing and matching it will be a crap shoot but here is some ideas to find out the problem because you should always have pedal. You must bench bleed the master. Here is a guide:

Then use three vise grips and gently close off the flex hoses the pedal should not move if the system is okay from there up. Now you can tell which part of the system is giving you troubles.

Please run down these guides and report back.
