So the engine will start but the steering stays locked and the key will not come out. That sounds like the steering lock actuator bar has snapped inside the column. I do not have a breakdown of that particular steering column but most use cheap metal for that part then seem shocked when they fail. The easiest way to repair it would probably be to replace the entire steering column and have a locksmith re-key the "new" column to use the current key. That way you do not need to carry multiple keys and possibly damage a lock if you used the wrong key.
The other option would be to take the steering column apart and replace or just remove the broken parts. The factory book I found online does not show how the column comes apart. Just how to remove it.
