I was driving the truck after replacing timing belt, water pump housing and upper control arms. While driving, it shut off and didn’t want to start again. I already replaced the crankshaft sensor and still doesn’t want to turn on. There is spark and also gas. I noticed that there is gas on one side of the engine and not on the other. Could it be a faulty ECM?

Is the engine that you listed for your truck correct? Also are there any trouble codes present?

It is the correct engine. Truck was running great. I had a small water leak and decided to check. Changed a gasket and timing chain. Once everything was put back, the truck started nice and calm. Drove it on the street and it was fine. Then went in the freeway and drove about three miles before the truck shut off and didn’t want to turn on anymore.

If there are any trouble codes in the Power-train control module we can use those to move forward and narrow down the diagnostic procedure to take. Also verify the sound that the engine makes when you turn the engine over while holding down the accelerator pedal all the way down, should have a uniform sound. If there is a flare up sound as the engine turns, there is an issue with low compression from one or more cylinders. Should be like nee-nee-nee-nee-nee-nee, not nee-nee-neeer-nee-nee-nee (stop laughing) lol, anyhow if compression sounds uniform then possible engine overheat, if not that then we go back to retrieving the codes because we might be chasing an electrical or ground issue. Let us know where you are at with the truck and I’ll be happy to get you there!
