Hard shift codes read shift solenoids c and d stuck open. So I drained fluid bought new filter and gasket pulled everything apart cleaned and was going to buy new solenoids but cannot tell if they 4 are all the same or if there is 2 different ones I saw one site say it's same for a/b/c but different for d and another say the 4 are the same. It is not my vehicle so when I drained the fluid it was same color as oil and thick. So i'm not sure what would cause that and if it is just the solenoids bad would it cause it to burn the fluid and no damage anywhere else. I have a code reader and that is the only codes that come up. I'm not a mechanic i'm just someone that can tinker and figure some stuff out. So hope it is just my problems. Thanks in advanced. I greatly appreciate it.

Good afternoon,

Can you give me the codes?

I attached the parts for you but you need to know the transmission code to determine if they are pulse width modulated or on/off controlled.

One of the codes that I remembered to take a picture of is p0762 shift solenoid c stuck on. I just had everything apart again today after putting together 2 days ago. And running it a little to try and circulate the fluid since it was so nasty and cleaned off the magnet it has to the pan in front of drain plug. Drained and it was already brown and had that burnt smell I don't know if it was from fluid left in lines or not, but I know currently tried it and it had no 3rd gear. I can get it to shift manual for a few minutes and can get into first second then when it shows 3 on dash it just revs up and I can get it into 4th no overdrive or 5th.

I saw on Rock Auto it shows that it takes 4 but there is not 4 of the same part in there. I can pull apart again and take a picture. This is why i'm confused as why it says takes 4 there is 3 identical then 2 that look the same then a single one.

Okay, this sounds like the valve body is full of the dirty fluid.

You may have to change the oil several times to get rid of all the bad fluid and hopefully it will free up the valves.

I attached the flowchart for you for the code and a wiring diagram as well.

So i kept looking and found this and for the price i can't pass it up to make it where i won't have to open the transmission pan everytime and i can make sure to clean it all out. i purchased it and is on its way so I will pull it apart and try to pull everything apart and blow everything out. i used carburetor cleaner and then air compressor to blow it out and let it dry before i put it back together is there a better cleaner to make sure it dont mess up anything.
