My vehicle listed above is front wheel drive. Transmission would not shift into 3-4, clattered would almost die when coming to stop. When it took off sometimes it would shift too soon to higher gear making the car lug down. I would have to pressure the gas pedal harder like I was kicking into passing gear to make it pick up and go on. Eventually the car wouldn't hardly run at all. It was suggested to remove the ABS fuse which did help engine run better. We did pull codes I believe was P0700 and P0974. After removing side plate found first solenoid from top of engine, I believe it is for shifting solenoid 3-4, was melted and broke in half. We assumed this was the problem only visually looked at other solenoids. So, we replaced the bad solenoid but car back together. When we test drove it, now it won't shift into second gear.

P0974: Shift Solenoid "A" Control Circuit High

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-wiring

The codes P0700 and P0974 are related to transmission system issues. Here's what each code indicates:

P0700: Transmission Control System Malfunction

P0974: Shift Solenoid "A" Control Circuit High

Clear the codes: After performing any repairs or replacements, clear the trouble codes using a diagnostic scanner. This will reset the system and allow you to verify if the issue has been resolved.

Update: shifting problem after shifting solenoid was replaced. Upon beginning to put transmission fluid back into car after repairs going through every gear to distribute fluid gear shift wouldn't go back in park. I'm not sure what was done from underneath, but it corrected the problem. Upon test driving car shifting from park is fine then into reverse also fine then to neutral still okay, but then put gear shift into D car tries to move but revved up instead. So, I put in L, started going again, then shifted to 1 car, shifted gears, then into D again, I wouldn't do anything. I don't know what was actually done to make the car go into park but I'm wondering could shift linkage be out of adjustment. I don't know if it was moved or repositioned Upon taking side plate off transmission to get to solenoids. There are no codes showing on the car now. Can linkage be adjusted or is this now another problem to get gear shift indicator and shifting back in alignment? If so, how do I go about it? My mechanic has disappeared on me, but I think if linkage is adjustable or simply needs to be put or bolted in correctly, I should be able to handle it. Just need to know what or where it should be. Thanks

It sounds like that could be the problem. Here is how to adjust the cable to help fix the problem. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
