About two months before the transmission problem, the timing belt went. I paid $1,200.00 for engine work. I only had my car back about two months. I am coming home from work one night and all of a sudden it is losing speed and I end up leaving on the ramp until the next day. Oddly enough the next day it would pull a little in Drive and I was able to get it home. Drive seems to be the only gear that responds at all. I would appreciate any help on what might have happened. If the transmission was bad, would not it have had problems before?

No, they can go bad all of a sudden especially in your case due to miles on car. Check fluid if dark brown or black transmission is probably shot. It kind of sounds like it is bad.
