Transmission disengages while driving

When I first start the car, it drives fine. After driving, a few minutes, the transmission disengages but the engine is still running. When I turn the car off and restart, the transmission works. It seems that the longer I drive, the longer it takes for the transmission to engage.

A clogged filter could cause this issue.
