Good day, mechanics, cs3 Lancer, 4g15 sohc and CVT transmission. Vehicle had 4g18 engine and changed it to 4g15, did not change harness. Check light came on. Driving at for example 2,000 rpm's as I let go of the accelerator the vehicle would hold back at the same speed and if I keep accelerating I only reach about 80 km and would not go further. Although I'm mashing the accelerator. I stopped and take of the negative terminal of the battery, wait 10 seconds and put it back on. No problems so far after I drove it. What is the cause for this? Because I recently serviced the throttle body and air intake manifold.

Hi,

Have you checked for diagnostic trouble codes? When you changed the engine and reused the wiring harness, were there differences? If you haven't checked for codes, I would recommend it. Here is a quick video showing how it is done:

I realize not everyone owns a scanner. However, most parts stores will do it for free, so try this and let me know the results.

No, I don't have a scanner and parts stores don't do that here. I'm from Trinidad, so any knowledgeable answer would be helpful. I was thinking about the spark plugs, last I changed them was in August 2018.

To be sure lets do a CAN scan which is the future of automotive repair you can get a CAN scanner from Amazon for about $50.00.

Hi,

If it's running good and the light hasn't come back on, it may be fine. However, I agree with Ken. Let us know if there is anything other we can help with.

My transmission may need a servicing then, as it has an oil filter inside. Last I serviced it was about 4 years ago.

Hi,

Has the problem returned? If it has, by any chance, were you able to get your hands on a scanner?
