I have the truck listed above 1500 with a 350 and a 4160e auto transmission. When I first got the truck the transmission slipped a little going into third and had a shutter going about 60 so I would just take it out of drive and put it in third and it wouldn't shudder as bad. I put some Shudderfix in it from the auto part store hoping it would fix my problem, but since the truck is a daily driver the transmission has gotten worse. Now just about all of the gears slip and when I start it up in the mornings it takes the transmission a minute to pull when I put it in reverse. I know these transmissions are notorious for going out and I think that's what's happening here.

Hello,

Many of these 4L60E transmissions suffer from exactly what you are experiencing.
They will have more issues when cold compare to when at operating temperature.
Sometimes the transmission will shudder when the fluid is old/dirty can does not have the proper lubricating capabilities. Also if the fluid level is low it will exaggerate the issue.
Have you recently changed the fluid?

If all the basics are covered but still shudders then rebuilding is the next option.

Let me know of any questions or concerns.
Thank you.

With good fluids but the issue progressively getting worse, it sounds like the fix would be to rebuild the transmission or find one to replace it with.
