My car has been revving up when I turn it on for the last couple days and when I go over even small bumps it acts like it's going to shut down. It started bout 2 days ago on way back home from town my engine started revving really high between to the 6-7 range and wouldn't shift into gear at all I had to pull over about halfway home to manually shift it into first and that didn't help either. I live about 20 or so minutes from town and I barely made it back home before it started to stall out and shut off. When I turned car off it did smell like something was burning, but no smoke coming out of from hood was actually cold and smell only last couple minutes so I parked it overnight and then drove it bout 1/4 mile to work and back home it still revved up but not as bad. Then I drove it again today after putting Lucas stop slip in, it barely made to store which was about 10 or so minutes away from my house. It shifted a little bit but then started to stall and did the same on way back from store tried to stall again.

So, does it seem like the transmission is slipping or not shifting? If the problem is not shifting, I would say the TIPM is going out which is common, but it is easy to replace because it self learns. To be sure you should do a CAN scan which is easy to do, you can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) from Amazon for about $30.00.

Here is a video to show you how:

Here is a scanner link:

Here is how you can change the TIPM out. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.
