I can start car runs fine. I can move gearshift to any gear, but car sounds like it wants to move but does not. When I put it back into park it makes a loud noise.

Hello,

This sounds like a CV axle is broken at the outer CV joint. Start the car and put in in reverse them look under the car you might need to jack it up a little. If you see one axle turning it is and here is a guide to help you see what you are in for when changing it out:

Please run down this guide and report back.

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

The loud clunk you hear when you place it in park, is it coming from the transmission? If it is, that may be the parking paw locking into park while the transmission is still turning inside. The first thing I want you to check are the half shafts (front axles) on the vehicle. If you have a broken CV joint, that would be why the car is not moving and the transmission clunks when you put it back into gear. Here is a link that describes its purpose as well as shows a picture of one so you can find it under the front of the vehicle:

Let me know what you find or if you have questions.

Take care,
Joe
