Recently had a MIL appear (P0700) for transmission issues with car listed above. Car would occasionally go to Limp mode and could be reset by turning ignition off and on again. Codes (P1776, P0871) indicated issues with solenoid pack and/or valve body. Question is, the transmission now makes a "growling" noise that is gone at stop and increases in speed, but not volume, as car is accelerated. If I put the transmission in neutral and coast down a hill, the sound is exactly the same. No difference whether the engine is engaged or not, seems to be something connected to the wheels/axles. Wondering if it's gear noise or what?

Hi,

The codes indicate issues with pressure switches. Before we start trying to diagnose the electronics, I need to know if you checked the fluid level and condition. The growing noise usually is related to a bearing issue. So, fluid condition and level could both play a part. The idea that it is gear noise doesn't make sense. If it were gear noise, you would have always had it.

If the noise is loud enough for you to record and upload for me to hear, please do so.

I attached the directions specific to your vehicle for checking fluid level and condition. Please review them and let me know the results or if you have already checked.

I'm suggesting this because the cause for the codes could be several, including internal damage.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
