Transmission not shifting properly

Transmission will not go into reverse unless i rev engine.

Hi,

That sounds like it could be a line pressure issue, low transmission fluid, or a computer related issue.

What I suggest is to first check the transmission fluid to make sure it is clean and full. The pic below shows the dipstick ranges based on engine temperatures.

If the fluid is clean and full, the vehicle's computer will need scanned to identify diagnostic trouble codes. This is a pre-OBD2 vehicle, so you will need to find someone with a scan too that could check Mercedes codes on this year vehicle.

Let me know what you find on the fluid level.
