A couple of weeks ago, I shifted my mini van from reverse to drive very quickly. This is the only time i have done this, and i have had the car for about five months. Shortly after, it felt like my check engine light went on, as well as a light that said, "transmission off'. After that, my van started shifting funny. My spouse just checked my fluids, and the transmission oil was brown. My question is, is it possible that I broke my transmission or hurt it from one bad shift?

I kind of doubt that but you never know. brown oil is not a good sign however you will have to have it scanned for codes see what the code is though then go from there.
