i am getting a service traction control message
could this be tied to the abs system?
possibly an ABS wheel speed sensor?

Without scanning it to find out the code it could be anything in the drive-train. Front or rear ABS sensor or module issue, transmission, electrical. Step one is to get it scanned to find out what the system thinks it sees as a problem. Then test to figure out if that is actually the problem.
