I see this problem is reported multiple times by other owners of Solara/Camry models. The car fires fine when cold such as when left overnight but stalls and won't idle until it's warmed up for several minutes. You have to keep your foot on the gas and keep it revving at 2000+ rpm for a few minutes. Later in the day it starts fine. It runs fine once it's warmed up. There must be some sort of cold start sensor for the engine management computer or air restriction system for cold starting but our mechanic is clueless. Help!

This is most likely this is a mass air flow sensor issue. What happens is the MAF reads the amount of air coming and the PCM matches the proper amount of fuel with it. When then sensor is dirty it reads incorrectly until it gets hot.

Here are a couple of guides that will help with this:

There is a chance that we have an ambient, coolant, intake air temperature sensor issue but let's start with a MAF issue and go from there.

Below is the info from the manual. Please let us know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks
