intermittent crank issue

Hi,

Thanks for having me at this forum. I hope somebody can help.

My 88 Toyota Pickup is having intermittent starter issues. After a while of driving it, all I can hear from the starter is a click. It sat at the mall several days and I tried starting it several times and still got the same thing.

I had it towed to the service guy and he says it starts every time. That happened the first time I had it towed there. This is really making me look stupid.

I tried making sure the truck was in park or neutral several times. That's what kind of a problem it seems like, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Any ideas?
