Hello all,

I have a toyota Mark II 1989 Model, 2000cc, 211000Kms. Yeah I know Old. Anyway sometimes the engine fails to start. It cranks and fails to start. But When I unplug the wire to the Air Flow Meter it cranks and starts. It Idles and when I accelarate engine stops. Also when I plug it back in when idling the engine stops.(Some times it continues and I drive off). I try starting again with the wire plugged in it just cranks and jams to start, only starts when I plug out the wire. So What I do is fiddle with the wire plugging it in halfway sometimes it starts some times not.
Usually happens in the morning. Help. Thanks :D

Hi there,

It sounds like your in the right place to start looking for your fault. I would check that all the terminals in the plug are clean & free of corrosion. Make sure that the plug locks in tight and that there is nothing stopping the plug from going all the way home. Also check that all the wires are OK, with the plug disconnected, gently feel that all the wires are tight and that the pins are also tight in the socket. If you suspect that there is a problem in the plug, an auto electrician will easily repair any faulty connection.
