1994 Other Toyota Models help with the meaning

I bought a toyota windom and the manual was in japannese, now my problem is since its my first automatic I do not know when I should use OVER DRIVE and by the gear lever there are two buttons written MAN ACT and PWR ACT, what do they mean and when can I use them. Please help I do not even know how I can save fuel since I drive in town and how I should when driving long distances.

Hi Rapelang,

O/D should be used under normal driving conditions for economy. It is only when you require engine braking or need to keep from shifting when driving along curved roads that you use O/D OFF.

PWR ACT is for Power, so the gears will upshift only at a higher rpm. MAN ACT is Manual when you wish to shift from each position manually. Do not use any of these for normal driving.
