2001 Toyota Echo 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive

In my 2001 Toyota Echo, whenever I turn on the fan, either air conditioner or heater, it starts to make a humming noise. The faster the fan is blowing, the louder the humming noise is.

Sounds like your heater/ac intake has ingested a foreign object. Look under your center console for debris being sucked into your fan area. It could also be your fresh air/recirculate switch may be broke, it happened to mine and I pulled the front panel off and moved the switch to fresh air and have not had a problem since.

Step 1 - A heater cannot operate unless the engine is full of coolant/antifreeze. If coolant level is low check the system for leaks.
