I have a 97 Toyota corolla I just bought the transmission started slipping and my check engine light came on. I had the code read it said my transmission solenoid was faulty. So I bought me another transmission and my hubby installed it for me. He used to be ase cert. Now it want change gears while the car is on. But it will change gears when it is off by manually changing it under the car. Is there something we forgot to do while installing the new transmission? OR is there some kind of adjustment we need to do to it?

Thanks
Molly

Shifting on these cars are controlled by the PCM, so one or more of the shift solenoids is not working or the PCM is at fault.

I would take to trans. Shop for diagnosis. Some are offering free diagnosis, then you can have information as to cause and deceide if your husband wants to repair or not.
