I think my oil pressure sending unit is out because I replaced the already good dash light with a new one (the light never lights up like the others when the key is in the position for checking indicator lights). I was thinking I'd try to find the sending unit and short it out to see if it in fact needed replacement, then buy a new one and replace it myself. Can you tell me where on the car to find the sending unit and advise me if this is very dificult to change out? -Or any other advice on this matter? The car runs fine as far as I can tell but I don't like not being able to know when the oil pressure might be low.

Thank you

The oil pressure sender is behind the alternator on the block. The connector is part of the alternator harness.

Remove neg. Battery cable and alternator and exhaust heat shield. You may have to remove the alt. Bracket. Get the correct 6pt. Deep socket to remove. It could be the connector has worked loose, so don't take the sender out unless necessary.

Thank you very much, after locating my oil pressure sending unit I found the wire was spliced and simply twisted together. I was able to ground the twisted part out to confirm that the light circuit worked, then I wiggled the conector on the sender to make sure it was well seated, soldered the twisted wires, and every thing appears to work fine now. Thanks!

I made a donation and bookmarked your website for future reference. Thanks again!
