Car goes forward and accelerates without issue. Car will go into reverse, but once the brake is let off from, there's a scary sound that is like a car crashing. Then after that it is very difficult to put it back into park. 1992 Toyota corolla. The transmission recently got a clean bill of health.
This car has a new alternator, distributor, battery, tires, and 2 full sized spares and new front shocks. Manual windows and locks. Has also just had a fuel system tuneup which includes a new fuel filter. Runs excellent. Great on gas.I only had to fill up every other week.
Optional Information:

Hi there I would be checking the transmission as any noise is a sign that not all is well, if it is only in reverse and coming from the transmission, well I think that you have answered your own question, get a second opinion on th transmission, but just get the drive line and all brakes & wheel bearings inspected just to be safe.

Have the differential fluid level checked. Toyota uses a seperate lubricant supply for the differential. While the trans. Fluid level may be good, the differential may be low. The differential provides drive via the cv axles and if fluid level is low or out the differential can sieze.
Another possobility is a collapsed/broken motor mount.
