Hi there,

If the problem is a head gasket, water ingestion and over heating will cause more serious damage, if an electrical problem with the ignition the injector will keep injecting fuel into the cylinder and this will cause the cat converter to fail, and also the excess washing of the cylinder wall will cause premature cylinder and ring wear and the oil will become fuel saturated and cause lubrication problems, so in a word no, don't drive it with a faulty compression.
