My mechanic says I have a bad VSV valve. He recommends replacing. My friends tell me that it is expensive to replace the VSV valve and not wort it as it only concerns emmissions. Shoul I or shouldn't I replace the valve. One criteria would be cost. Is it as expensive as my friends indicate?
Thank You

If this VSV valve concerns the EGR system you need to replace it otherwise you will fail the smog test. The EGR relies on the VSV to operate properly thru the modulator-no vacuum the EGR would not open. Expensive or not-it has to be done-or check the junk yard for a lesser price.
