I have rigged my battery with funky wires that aren't exactly toyota approved. I have had problems starting it. It clicks a ton of times then it will finally start. I know my wife just told me this is a stupid question. I just want to know why it has to click so many times then it will start. Is it connection or starter motor? I think we did a good job with the connections.

Well I would have to state the obvious and say that the wiring to the battery is probably at fault. There are a lot of volts needing to run through those cables to get the engine started, takes a lot of torque to crank that thing over. I suggest replacing the wiring with the proper cables. You can also jumper the starter solenoid with a jumper wire (or screwdriver). If it engages then starter is not at fault.

Thanks for using 2CarPros. Com!
