Transmission problem
1993 Toyota Camry 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

I bought a 93 LE Camry two years ago. Recently I checked the transmission oil and it looked black. I checked with three transmission shops and were told that it is better I use a new tranny because if I change the oil the tranny would not work because the pump will not pick up the new oil. Is this true or am I being taken or a ride to spend more money. My tranny works really well u dont know when it shifts.

Hi Cubs,

If it is not broken why fix it? Just replace the ATF but you might need to replace it again at a short interval as draining would only replace about 40 % of the fluid.

I would not recommend flushing the system.
