2002 Toyota 4Runner 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 128K miles

I have a 2002Toyota 4Runner and have had SEVERAL lights on for some time now. Ready to address the issue, but don't want to go into a mechanic unknowledgable. The "check engine light" is on, the VSC trac is on and the trac off is on. What's the issue and the best method of handling it? I cannot afford to go to a toyota dealership. Helpless female.

Error or errors have been detected in the engine management and other systems and they could be related.

Go to Autozone for a free scan to retrieve the trouble codes and let me know the EXACT ttrouble code so I can understand what is wrong and proceed from there.
