I was driving and the check engine light is on. When I was going faster than 70 km/h my car would rev and the tires felt as if they weren't connected to the gas. Turning off the car and then on again would fix the issue, but it would arise again whenever I pressed on the brakes.

This issue is most likely a solenoid or fluid related issue. However, we need to check for codes because that will determine what we need to do first.

Once we know what codes are in the system then we will be able to take the next steps.

Here is a guide that will help with the basics but again due to the check engine light i would start with the codes. Thanks

The code is P2769.

I’m fairly new to car ownership and I doubt I can drive it to a mechanic, may have to get it towed.

How many hours of labor do you think is required for this fix? Or an estimate cost?

I attached the testing just for your review. However, this is normally one of two things. Either the torque converter shift solenoid is the issue or the wiring to it.

If the issue is the solenoid then the part looks to be about $200 and the labor will vary depending on the amount of diagnostic time they need to figure it out plus what their door rate is so it is hard to give you an estimate on something like this. If the vehicle drives, then I would just take it slow and back roads if needed but you are not going to do any more damage to the transmission with this issue. It just won't shift to overdrive.

If you feel more comfortable towing it then that is always an option.

Please let me know what questions you have. Thanks
