Hello,
This looks like the charcoal canister from the Evaporative emissions system (EVAP). The charcoal canister is where fuel vapors are stored from your vehicle's fuel tank and the introduced into and burned by your vehicle's engine. If the canister is missing, this would constitute a major vacuum leak for the engine and if it would start, it would run extremely rough and have major driveability concerns. In the diagrams down below I have included instructions for the removal and installation of the EVAP Charcoal Canister. You can use this guide as a template to reinstall the charcoal canister and make your vehicle driveable again. Please get back to us with how things are progressing.
Thanks,
Alex
