Hi. I have the car listed above convertible that I took to a mechanic because it was leaking coolant. They replaced the thermostat housing and two heater hoses. When I went to pick up my car it was idling rough and shaking a little when I turned it on. They said that was normal and something about the computer needing to relearn or reset itself and that it just needed to be driven more and it would stop. Is this normal for a car to do after only changing the thermostat housing?

This is a Jag so anything is possible. However, that does not sound normal in most cases. What is most likely is something did not get hooked up correctly and we now have a vacuum leak. The reason I say that is because I don't know what would need to relearn as this has a throttle cable and not electronic throttle.

The only thing I can think that would need to relearn is the fuel adaptives if they disconnected the battery.

However, with all that being said, I would think this is not normal as you now what it felt like before and after. I would do what they said and drive it for a couple more days and if they are wrong, get it back in there and let them check over their work.

Let me know what questions you have and what happens. Thanks
