Fluctuating RPMs while driving?

When driving down the road my car RPMs went up and down and jerk, the theft light illuminated and went off.

Hi,

How often does this happen? The idea that the theft light turned on and then off leads me to think there could be an issue with the key itself. If you have a spare key, try using it and see if it still happens. If it does, then I recommend having the can-bus scanned.

CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, the different modules are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them.
